THE NEW SPSC-1500 FULLY INTEGRATED POWER CONTROLLER

DON'T SWEAT THE ELECTRONICS!!

UPDATE 12/27/07:  ALL UNITS USE OUR NEW SMART POWER CONTROLLER.

This page is for buyers that are interested in the component pieces of our Power Controllers.  For complete plug-n-go totally integarted CNC electronics packages including the PC interface unit, THC, Spindle Speed and matching motors and control software go HERE....

The "guts" of the new SPSC1500 High Current Power Controller.  This is actually two separate 60V 12A Cont power supplies that can drive up to five of our large 850 OZ-IN 72VDC servo motors in a large machine configuration. The SPSC1500 has all of the advanced features of our SPSC650 line with overvoltage shutdown, overload shutdown, Dynamic Motor Braking, Shutdown on servo faults and  complete control from any MP1000 box or from our optional OP-1 Operator Control Pod (Below).

With the ability to run the big loads this unit is perfect for Big Iron retro-fits that use the newer more efficient skewed rotor DC brushed servos.  Coupled with the Gecko 320/340 series of servo drives you have a cost effective solution for the big jobsNeed to run 4 servos on a big plasma or router table?  WIth fan cooling this guy will provide you what you need in power and at a price that is a fraction of other controllers this size.

Close-up view of Gecko Power Deck.  Designed to be both a heatsink and heavy-duty mount.  Interface Card means no individual wires to Geckos

Another view of the Gecko Power Deck showing the modular design and external plug accessInterface Cards have one ribbon cable and 4 power connections.  Entire plate unbolts and slides off in seconds.  Cards mount top and bottom.  Up to 4 Geckos of any type can be used

Complete with Power-on-Reset and Central Fault Shutdown (motor power shutdown and dynamic braking features of SPSC650)

Plate (provided on all units purchased with a case) are double laminated and easy to read with color coded inputs and outputs.  Picture is of Stacked Dual Servo (3 or 4 servo system).  Mixed servo stepper systems ship with slightly different plates

Gecko Servo Interface Card shown removed from Gecko Power Plate.  All Servo cards have Differential to Single-Ended receivers.  Single 10 pin ribbon cable connects down to PSC1500 Main Board.    Option jumpers allow use with CandCNC Differenitial Driver cards (pictured below) OR from differential driver cards (using RJ45 connectors) from USDigital and their cables.

MOTOR ENCODER PIGTAILS for Single to Differential encoder interface.  Eliminate your noise problems with differential signaling.  Allows noise free operation up to 50ft from Controller cabinet! Standard equipment on all RouterPak and PlazPak units.

A shot of one of our Package Deals that includes the SPSC1500, 14X16X8 NEMA Molded Enclosure, Motors, Cables and our famous MP1000 series Interface and Control Panel.  We have them for Plasma, Routing and Big Iron applications.  The Enclosures come with rear mounting tabs and the unit will work Vertically or Horizontally mounted

2 Differential Driver Cards come with each Dual servo Interface Card.  Small, sealed units plug in at the encoder on the motor with latching 5 pin plug used on most USDigial Encoders and all CandCNC Servo motors/encoders.  Using differential drive signals on encoder lines is recommended for any run greater than 6 ft.  It eliminates noise problems with encoder signals and uses simple unsheiled UTP network cables (up to 50 ft long)

Why Differential Encoder Signals?  Ask the people that make the digital encoders.  The max recommended length for single ended drivers is less than 2 meters.   Differential drivers use a balanced non-ground referenced line.  Outside noise injected on both lines is cancelled out.  Similar to RS422. the Differential drivers allow low level logic signals from the encoders to use unshielded twisted pair wires up to 100 ft in noisy environments.  We know the frustration of fighting noise and lost position.  CandCNC designed the Servo interface cards to be Differential to give the builder one more advantage.
